India and China are looking to reboot Ties for Border Management
India and China have recently engaged in diplomatic discussions aimed at enhancing border management and resuming cross-border cooperation. On March 25, 2025, officials from both nations convened in Beijing for a meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC). The Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary (East Asia) Gourangalal Das, while the Chinese side was headed by Hong Liang, Director General of the Boundary & Oceanic Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During this meeting, both parties reviewed the current situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and discussed the implementation of decisions made during earlier high-level meetings. They explored measures to resume cross-border cooperation, including the potential revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage and other confidence-building initiatives.
These diplomatic engagements are part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and tranquility along the border and to address longstanding issues between the two countries. While National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi have previously met to discuss border management, there are currently no official reports indicating an upcoming meeting between them in India.
